Candlestick Park memories

Having attended 121 49ers games at The Stick, I've got a few memories stored in the bank to share over the 17 week regular season as the days of Candlestick Park are coming to a close.

With Monday night likely being the last regular season game at The Stick, my last memory in this series of Candlestick Park memories would be my first football game on the sidelines on Dec. 19, 1983.
It was a Monday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys. A previous paper gave me a photo pass to shoot the game.
I had no clue what I was doing. But I'll never forget the moment I walked through the tunnel of both teams' locker rooms, coming out where the right field bullpen used to be.
The moment I stepped on the field, I was awestruck. I sat in the Giants dugout where players for the 49ers slowly trickled out from their end of the tunnel onto the field.
There was Joe Montana hitting the late Freddy Solomon on a 77-yard touchdown pass. Montana tossed two more touchdowns in that game to Roger Craig.
Eric Wright brought back a Danny White interception 48 yards for a touchdown while Dana McLemore returned a punt 56 yards for six in a 42-17 blowout.
I don't have a picture that day worth keeping. But the memories will remain in my head forever.
