Central Coast Section Playoffs
Division IV
Saturday's game
No. 8 Seaside (5-5) at No. 1 Sacred Heart Prep-Atherton (9-1), 1 p.m.
The Spartans could be the most dangerous team in the Division IV bracket if they are playing on all cylinders and as one, as was the case last week in erupting for a season-high 45 points.
Don't be mislead by the 5-5 mark. Seaside has fallen in overtime and with no time left on the clock. Turnovers cost them two other games.
Yes, this team could be 9-1.
But it's not.
Instead, Sacred Heart Prep is, with its only loss coming from Peninsula Bay Athletic League champ and Open Division top seed Terra Nova.
A common opponent is Salinas, which the Gators beat 25-10. Seaside played perhaps its best game of the year in beating the Cowboys 34-5. Both wins were at The Pit.
A concern all season for Seaside is stopping the run. Saturday will be no different as the Gators have rushed for nearly 2,500 yards. By comparison, the Spartans have mustered just 653 rushing yards.
The status of Ronnie Turner is uncertain. One of the sections best receivers suffered a concussion two weeks ago and did not play last week.
