San Benito-Alvarez football

Central Coast Section playoffs
Division I
Saturday's game
 No. 4 San Benito (6-5) at No. 1 Alvarez (11-0), 7 p.m.
The Eagles are one of three teams still unbeaten in the CCS at 11-0. San Benito is undefeated in the month of November over the last two years when not facing a team named Palma.
After being shutout in its league finale, the defending Division I champion Balers erupted for 62 points in an opening round playoff win over Independence.
In its last four playoff games, San Benito has outscored the opposition 155-62.
Alvarez won its first postseason game in 13 years as Edric Gamble and Ceasar Ramirez both went over 1,000 yards rushing for the season.
Zach Hicks and David Stanton have combined for nearly 1,600 yards on the ground and 27 touchdowns for San Benito.
The Eagles have not allowed a touchdown in the second half in their last two games. A cast of unknowns on defense has molded and dominated as one.
The two teams have faced each other once before in the playoffs in 2001 with San Benito prevailing 34-13.
In fact, the Balers have won the last eight meetings against Alvarez.
