Contra Costa-Hartnell football

Saturday's game
Living Breath Foundation Bowl
Cabrillo College, Aptos, 1 p.m.
Contra Costa (7-3) vs. Hartnell (8-2)
The two conference champions have engaged in two nailbiters over the past two years with Hartnell prevailing 37-34 in Week 4 and needing overtime to beat Contra Costa in 2012.
Another shootout could be in order. The Panthers are averaging just under 39 points a game while Contra Costa is averaging 34.5 points.
Hartnell has won five straight games while Contra Costa saw its five-game winning streak stopped by Los Medanos last week.
The Panthers beat Los Medanos 41-7 in their season opener.
Sophomore tailback De'Andre Mann, who has drawn interest from the University of Utah, has set new Hartnell school records for rushing yards (1,519) and touchdowns (28) this fall.
The 5-foot-11 Mann also leads the state in both categories. Add his 281 receiving yards and the 20-year-old is 200 yards shy of 2,000 total yards.
Mann rushed for 208 yards alone last week against MPC.
Quarterback Curt Ceralde has thrown for just under 1,800 yards this fall with Da'Quan Smith having caught 49 passes for 715 yards.
Defensively, Anthony Smithson has a team-leading six interceptions for the Panthers, and is second in tackles with 61, behind Rodrigo Dela Cruz's 62. Kapil Fletcher has recorded six sacks.
Quarterback Malik Watson has thrown for 2,406 yards and 15 touchdowns for Contra Costa, but has also tossed 10 interceptions.
Tailback Davonte Sapp-Lynch -- the younger brother of Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, has rushed for 1,239 yards and 17 touchdowns, and has 40 receptions for nearly 400 yards for the Bay Valley Conference tri-champions.
Contra Costa has recorded 39 sacks this year, nine from linebacker Takkarist McKinley.
The two teams are 2-0 against common opponents.
