 These two teams faced each other in 2011 in the first round of the playoffs with Palma prevailing 10-0.
 Getting out of the first round, though, has been a struggle for the Chieftains, having failed to reach the second round two of the last three years.
 Last year as the top seed, Palma was knocked off by Sacred Heart Prep. In 2010, it fell as the No. 2 seed to Sacred Heart Cathedral.
 Not hanging over the Gabilan Division champion Chieftains head this year is the disappointment of not gathering at least a share of the league title.
 The Chieftains closed the season with eight straight wins behind the pitching of Cameron Neff and Austin Wahl.
 Palma held 18 opponents to two runs or less this spring.
 St. Lawrence of Santa Clara won the Private School Athletic League. It was beaten 16-2 in its last game by Pinewood, and also fell to Kings Academy, who is seeded No. 15.
