Boys Game of the Year

There's a lot to choose from over the course of nine months.
 Yet, the Alisal-Alvarez Division I boys soccer playoff semifinal, which came down to a shootout, stands out above all.
 More than 2,500 people filled The Pit in Salinas - the largest crowd to ever watch a prep soccer game in Monterey County - to witness the powers square off for a spot in the CCS Division I finals.
 Regulation solved nothing. Neither did two 10-minute overtimes.
 Remember, Alvarez played the final 20 minutes of regulation and both OT periods down a player.
 It took the sixth shooter in the shootout from Alisal - Daniel Figueroa - to produce a penalty kick goal to send the Alisal faithful into pandemonium.
