Menlo Meltdown

So what went wrong with Seaside and Palma succumbing in the CCS Division IV basketball semifinals, despite being the higher seeds?
In Seaside's case, it didn't have a big man in the paint to offset Half Moon Bay's trio of alternating posts that stood 6-feet-6 or taller.
The Spartans run an offense where all five players float around the floor. But no one was able to get inside, forcing them to shoot jump shots. And it never got its transition game in gear.
Palma can dispute this all it wants. But the continuity never returned. At times, players were standing around waiting for something to happen.
And the Chieftains just didn't get any critical stops against Menlo.
Lost in all this, however, is that Half Moon Bay and Menlo were just better teams that night and deserved to win the games.

The last few times I have seen Palma in playoffs (in Menlo) seems they just completely shoot bricks. Happens at SHP and Menlo. When they rely on 3s and are cold they don't go to basket enough and seem to become one dimensional. The game also was basically a home game for both winners (the schoolsare in same league and right next to each other). They should move the playoffs to neutral site. Both the winners are very disciplined as well and play team ball.
