Scrimmages of interest

I'm anxious to see how Monterey lines up against defending Central Coast Section Open Division champion Bellarmine, who is once again loaded and ranked in the top 10 in the state.
I know today is just a scrimmage. But with San Benito, Palma and Salinas on its schedule this year, Monterey has to get used to this physical style of play.

Carmel begins a new era at quarterback this afternoon when it scrimmages North County. I expect both teams will shovel in a lot of players. I wouldn't put much into it.

Palma will scrimmage Wilcox today. Palma believes it's a state caliber team, no matter what division it's forced into this fall. Defensively, I agree. But I think it has to show it can throw the ball.

Palma passing attack will be levels ahead of last season. There is a huge QB battle, but both threw the ball well against a very good Wilcox team. Tardeau has improved over last season and Kidd is a D1 QB if he grows a few inches. Very impressive and receivers looked great. Lots of excellent RBs on offense and line looked good. Only questionmark Palma needs to shore up if DBs...looked a lttle tentative on the rush and a little undersized. Wilcox will make some noise in the CCS Deanza divivon as well. Very physical team that runs the veer extremely well. Palma needs to step it up on defense to be as good as last season's unit. Offense should be way more balanced.

bells are going to have lots of speed... Chapman at RB is a 4.47 guy and elusive and big, Sanfillippo at RB ran a 10.75 100M at CCS track meet. QB a junior is verbally committed to lay football at Vanderbuilt, LB and WR Olebodge is a 4.5 40 kid and big...TE is 6-4...line will be smaller than last season. Lots of talent on Bells this season and balance on offense. Defense is qustionmark. Will be an interesting matchup for Monterey.
