Football notes

The last time Monterey defeated Carmel in football, Padres head coach Golden Anderson was the quarterback. Of course, there was a 12-year absence between games.
I like the fact that Anderson is an offensive minded coach and Monterey coach Tom Newton is a defensive wizard.

If North Salinas is going to get into the win column for the first time this week, it'll have to beat defending Central Coast Section Large School champion Milpitas, which is 1-0-1.

Running back Daniel Breaux is putting up some big numbers in Greenfield's first two games. No one is debating that the Bruins schedule isn't filled with postseason opponents.
But Breaux is a beast at 225 pounds and is getting attention from colleges as an athlete. He's probably better suited to be an outside linebacker in college.
