CCS preview at Toro???

Close to 2,000 cross country runners from 60 schools in the Central Coast Section will congregate to Toro Park on Saturday at 8 a.m. to compete in the 16th annual Condor Earlybird Invitational.
The event is being touted as a preview to the section championships in eight weeks, since they will also be held in November at Toro Park.
Those with state meet aspirations will see how they stack up against their rivals, as well as get a feel for the Toro Park course, which is significantly different then Crystal Springs in Belmont.
Of course, what a runner does in September has no barring in November. But it can send a message.
Among those expected to compete include Salinas senior Max Bell, who went to the State Division I finals last year.
