Ron, don't do it.
Stay away from Detroit.
There will be better head coaching opportunities down the road in the NFL for the Seaside High graduate.
If people think going to the Raiders as a head coach is a kiss of death, look at the Detroit Lions' past coaches.
Most of them have never been a head coach again -- Bobby Ross, Monte Clark, Wayne Fontes --- to name a few.
The Lions -- one of the oldest franchises in the NFL -- are one of six teams in the NFL never to play for a Super Bowl.
They are the first franchise to go 0-16.
Rivera owed it to himself to interview Wednesday. But one more year in San Diego as their defensive coordinator will enhance his market value.
Look what Rivera did in a half-year as the Chargers coordinator without perhaps the best defensive player in the NFL.
Heck, if he's patient enough, Rivera could have the Chargers job in two years if this franchise continues to underachieve.
