Question of year

I presented this question the other day on a radio station.
What were the top three stories of 2008?
Michael Phelps and his eight gold medals? The N.Y. Giants beating New England in the Super Bowl, or Fresno State capturing the College World Series. Phelps won.
But how about the county's best in 2008?
Here are a few thoughts:
Palma's Tyre Johnson winning the State Division IV cross country title, qualifying for the nationals.
Monterey winning its first ever Central Coast Section boys team title in track and field.
North Salinas improving 18 games in boys basketball.
Carmel capturing its first Mission Trail Athletic League football title outright in 45 years.
Or, Salinas reaching the State Division I quarterfinals in volleyball.
