Is Chris Dalman returning to Palma to coach or headed to the Raiders?
The former 49ers center stepped down Wednesday as Stanford's offensive line coach, citing a desire to spend more time with his family.
And that very well could be the case.
Dalman, who spent eight years with the 49ers before retiring with a neck injury, coached at Palma for two years before taking a job with the Atlanta Falcons.
Returning to work with the lineman at Palma would not be far fetched.
However, if Raiders interim coach Tom Cable gets the job, it's possible Dalman could return to the NFL. He worked under Cable in Atlanta. And it would keep him close to his family in Salinas.
I'm not sure the Raiders and Dalman would be a good fit. I'm not sure he wants those long hours. But the fact that his name has surfaced gives you an idea of the respect he's earned.
