All-star quandary

Maybe there is no perfect date.
But having a high school all-star football game on the same night the TCAL and MTAL are playing league basketball games makes no sense.
No sense at all.
The two best quarterbacks in the area won't be on the football field Friday, Jan. 8. And either will the TCAL rushing champion.
They play basketball.
I understand the reason the Salinas Jaycees moved the annual game from the summer to the present. Now kids have to be held accountable for their actions.
But this game should have been played the week after the CCS football finals when football was still fresh in a lot of people's minds and it didn't interfere with winter sports heating up with league action.
