Football picks

No rhyme or reason.
But the pressure to be perfect is over. Still 68-13-1 is worth putting out there.
Pacific Grove at Carmel: How do you go against a team that has won five straight league titles? Then again, how do you ignore a team averaging 49 points a game in the MTAL? You don't. I'm sticking by my prediction in this blog back in December of 2007 that Carmel would be the team to beat in the MTAL. Carmel.
Monterey at Seaside: For once, this game is going to live up to its billing as the most intense rivalry in the area. The Toreadores have gone eight years without beating Seaside — owners of 20 straight MBL wins. I said after the Spartans fell to Palma five weeks ago that they wouldn't lose another game if they played at that level. And they haven't. But Seaside has not gotten back to that level either. Monterey.
North Salinas at Salinas: Any chance of the Cowboys gathering a part of the TCAL title would constitute beating the Vikings in the 50th meeting. I love the job Salinas coach Steve Goodbody has done in resurrecting the program. But it's hard to ignore North Salinas head coach Steven Zenk's effort. North Salinas is 48 minutes from its first title in 25 years. North Salinas.
Gonzales at King City: The oldest rivalry in Monterey County doesn't have a title at stake. But the pride of two small towns raises the level. King City
Greenfield at Soledad: The Bruins had hoped to be playing for a postseason spot. Instead, they will likely be turning in uniforms Monday. Ironically, both of their losses this year came at home. Greenfield.
Alisal at Palma: The Trojans have never beaten Palma. And they're winless on the road this year. Palma is building steam for the postseason. Palma.
Monte Vista at North County: The Condors are playing for a .500 season. North County.
