Redwoods-Hartnell football

Saturday's game
Redwoods (1-1) vs. Hartnell (1-1) at Rabobank, 1 p.m.
Two weeks after traveling to face MPC, the Corsairs are in a bus for seven plus hours again to visit Hartnell.
That's got to be a budget crusher.
Redwoods bounced back from a 51-34 loss to MPC with a double-overtime 32-29 win over Gabilan last week.
Brody Lucero threw for three touchdowns and rushed for one last week for Redwoods. He threw for over 400 yards and five touchdowns against MPC.
Last week Hartnell gave up four scoring strikes through the air in a 34-7 loss to Foothill. Shoring up its pass defense starts with getting more pressure on the quarterback.
The Panthers did intercept three passes, giving them five in two games, with Treyon Smith getting his second this year. Salinas High grad Drew Schuler has 17 tackles in two games.
What has plagued the Corsairs is turnovers (eight in two games) and penalties. Last week they had 14 penalties for 160 yards.
A hyperextended knee suffered a week earlier limited Isaiah Randelle's mobility last Saturday, as the Panthers quarterback threw for just 115 yards - 42 of which came on a touchdown to Angel Olivas.
Randelle, who led the state in passing yards per game last year, may be without his favorite target in Jeff Weimer, who left the game in the first quarter last week with a calf injury.
Tailback David Freeman's 203 yard rushing effort was something Hartnell hasn't seen since the days of current Salinas assistant coach De'Ande Mann.
Last year the Panthers erupted for a season high in points in a 62-14 win at Redwoods.
