Pacific Grove-King City football

Friday's game
Pacific Grove (1-2) at King City (2-1), 7:30 p.m.
For the first time in over 50 years, these two programs are no longer league rivals, with the Breakers moving down to the Santa Lucia Division, while King City remains in the Cypress.
The Mustangs have won the last two games, producing 49 points in each game. Prior to that, Pacific Grove had won five straight.
Quarterback Ben Minik is coming off a four-touchdown rushing effort for the Breakers, who finished last week's 30-15 win over Santa Cruz with just 19 healthy players.
Anthony DaSilva and Chianti Carter combined for 160 rushing yards, while Minik put the ball in the air just four times, completing three for 75 yards.
This is the third straight week that King City is playing a former league rival. A 14-8 lead was brief last week in a 50-27 loss to Carmel.
Shoring up its defensive deficiencies is critical for King City, who gave up over 500 yards in offense to Carmel.
Limiting its opponents possessions with time consuming drives is enabling Pacific Grove to shorten the game. Its defense created three turnovers last week, two of which led to scores.
The Mustangs are a better team when the run is setting up the pass. Cesar Chavez is coming off a 135 yard, two touchdown rushing effort. Devin Morales is averaging over 30 yards a catch.
