North Salinas football

It will be scrutinized and ridiculed.
Why go for two in a one-point game with 1:26 left when you're winless?
 Why not?
It was a non-league game for North Salinas.
The Vikings were pounding the ball the entire second half. The offense had momentum. The players had juice.
Head coach Ben Ceralde believed in his players. It was not an emotional decision. It was the right decision for what he's trying to build in his second season and that's trust.
So it didn't work out and North Salinas is still winless after a 14-13 loss to Gonzales.
It left an impression with his players. Coach believes in us. I'm guessing there's a sense of confidence in that lockerroom that may have not been there before the game started.
Playing for the tie and overtime wouldn't have been the wrong decision. But this was a moment that in the future will be looked back upon.
Erase the Salinas debacle and the Vikings have been in every game this year. It wouldn't hurt if they stopped digging themselves two touchdown deficits in the first half.
Ceralde called the second half of Friday's game the best of the season. Now, can the Vikings piggy back off that effort and put four solid quarters together. Because league play is upon us.
