Walking on to the team in the spring of 2018, Matt Mercurio has become San Jose State's kicker this fall as a redshirt freshman.
The former Palma kicker and punter has converted all six of his extra point attempts, and kicked his first college field goal from 22 yards out against Tulsa.
The 6-foot-1 Mercurio won the kicking job during the Spartans spring game last year, converting all of his attempts. He produced 69 points for Palma in 2016.
