The Chicago Cubs No. 1 draft pick sports a 2.25 earned run average in six starts this summer for the organizations Class A team in Eugene, Oregon.
Jensen has allowed just two runs in his last 11 1/3 innings for the Emeralds, striking out 18 hitters. He had five strikeouts in two innings of work in a recent start.
Last spring the former Salinas High three-sport standout posted a 12-1 record at Fresno State, with 107 strikeouts in 100 innings, finishing with a 2.88 earned run average.
Blessed with a fastball that has been clocked at 98 mph, the right-handed Jensen was the Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Year, earning second team NCAA All-American honors.
Jensen was a member of The Herald's All-County football and baseball teams at Salinas.
