Marina-Seaside football

Thursday's game
Marina (0-0) at Seaside (0-0), 7 p.m.
The hope is this will become an annual rivalry game appropriately named 'The Fog Bowl'. The only meeting between the two teams occurred in 2016 with Seaside rolling to a 41-0 win.
First year Marina coach J.D. Dennis is a Seaside graduate, who spent the last eight years coaching at his alma mater.
The Mariners have won nine games over the last two falls -- more wins than the previous seven years combined in 11-man football.
Seaside won just one game last year in the Gabilan Division, warranting a move down to the Mission Division, although its stay may be short term.
Size wise, the Spartans have one of the bigger front lines in the area, as 309-pound Kefu Leander and 6-feet-6 James Milovale are being courted by a handful of Division I programs.
Marina quarterback Michael Barrera set a single season school passing record last fall while Anthony Garcia was among the team leaders in tackles.
The Mariners recorded the programs first three shutouts last fall, allowing just 12 points in four wins. But in six losses, they allowed 35 points a game.
