Christopher-Monterey volleyball

Both programs have gotten off to explosive starts this season with the Toreadores posting a 6-1 mark while Christopher is 8-1.
Each team has dropped just four sets all spring, with Monterey having swept five teams, including its league opener at Salinas on Tuesday.
The strength of the Toreadores starts with setter Ivan Garcia, who has a handful of hitters to feed the ball to, including returning starter Juan Villar and Gabe Atkins.
Defensively, Atkins is coming off a seven block effort while Villar is also the team leader in digs.
While the Cougars are developing a new core of hitters, returning setter Giovanni Cardonna has helped make it a smooth transition.
Both teams were 7-5 in the Gabilan Division last year, ironically beating each other on the road.
