North Salinas-Notre Dame hoops

How close are the Spirits to being 2-0 instead of winless in the Gabilan Division?
Well, one more basket from the perimeter and both games could have been extended to overtime.
Notre Dame has dropped two games by three points - to two teams that have captured a combined 24 games this winter.
Granted, scoring just 22 points in a loss to Monte Vista was likely a film not worth watching.
Rediscovering their stroke will be crucial tonight when the Spirits visit North Salinas.
The Vikings need short term memory after failing to hold a 13-point first half lead in falling 60-48 to Seaside on Tuesday.
With league play reduced to a 10-game season, this becomes an important game for both teams if either has title hopes.
Both teams have relied on a committee approach offensively with North Salinas turning to Destiney Aruza, Natalie Acuna and Neavah Black for production.
The Spirits will counter with Angela Leavitt, Kelly Kinion, Mariah Schlapfer and Corrine Sargenti.
Kinion and Sargenti are coming off monster games on the boards, combining for 27 rebounds in the loss to Monte Vista.
Teams are focusing on containing Leavitt on the perimeter, as the junior has knocked down 36 shots from the 3-point arc in 14 games.
