CSUMB men's hoops

What you can say about the Otters going into their conference road opener Friday in San Francisco is they have been competitive in an 0-4 non-conference start.
Two losses have been by four and six points. CSUMB had a shot in all four games to pull out a win. Of course, it didn't happen. But it is something to build off of.
An up-tempo team that likes to shoot from the perimeter, the Otters are averaging over 75 points a game. The problem is they haven't been able to stop teams, giving 96 points in one game.
Three players are averaging over 10 points a game, with Jahvon Johnson dropping in 15.5 points for CSUMB. Koen Sapwell sits at 14.5 while newcomer Charlie Tooley is averaging 11.5.
Improvement at the 3-point line will be critical in conference play. CSUMB is hitting just 27 percent from the arc. It is also averaging just 13 assists a game as a team.
After a 3-0 start, the Gators dropped their non-conference opener. Ryne Williams has used his 7-foot frame in the paint to average 14.5 points and 8.8 rebounds this season.
Joseph Bosetti is pulling down nearly five rebounds a game for CSUMB. The 6-5 forward is also shooting 68 percent from the field.
Chris Turner, the lone senior on the Otters, has made use of his minutes, hitting four-of-five from the field, averaging five points a game off the bench.
