The former Salinas High quarterback has thrown for 695 yards and three touchdowns in Willamette University's first three games.
The gunslinger also leads the Bearcats in rushing with 123 yards and two touchdowns this fall.
Last year Castaneda threw for 1,326 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore for Willamette, while rushing for 360 yards and five touchdowns.
Castaneda shattered the Salinas single-season records for passing yards and touchdowns in 2015, throwing for 2,436 yards and 29 touchdowns.
One of Castaneda's favorite targets has been former Christopher receiver Anthony Sammut, who is second on the team with 11 catches.
In addition, former Stevenson defensive back Kendrick Pearson is in his senior year at Willamette, having compiled seven tackles and one pass breakup
