Marina volleyball

Whether the Mariners were overlooking their opponent Monday or not, falling from the unbeaten ranks in league to Trinity has turned tonight's battle with Oakwood into a title match.
Simply put. The winner captures the Santa Lucia Division and gets an invitation to the Central Coast Section Division V playoffs.
Failure likely means you're turning in uniforms on Thursday.
Marina has the distinction of having gone on the road and beaten Oakwood in five sets on Oct. 8, its first ever win over the Morgan Hill school.
The Mariners are a defensive minded unit led by Elecia Leuma-Burks, who chases triple doubles on a nightly basis in kills, assists and digs.
Paulina Sanchez, Ileana Fonseca and Joielyn Comabig have been blankets in the back row all season, averaging a combined 58 digs a match.
Contributions at the net come from all nine players on the roster, including Leuma-Burks, who had eight on Monday. Thu Vo gives Marina another setter in its attack.
The Mariners are undefeated this year when playing at home.
