The only head football coach Scotts Valley has had since the inception of the varsity program in 2002, Louie Walters will be coaching his final game next week.
The longest tenured football coach in Santa Cruz County will step down after the Falcons play their final regular season game on Nov. 2 at North Salinas.
"It's been a great ride," Walters said.
The Falcons have endured an enormous amount of injuries this fall in sliding to 4-5 overall.
Over the course of 17 seasons under Walters, Scotts Valley went 112-79-2 under Walters, capturing four Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League titles.
While the Falcons will miss the postseason this year, the program made 10 playoff appearances under Walters, reaching the Central Coast Section semifinals four times.
