Stevenson football

Growing pains come in reshaping a program. So do teaching moments.
Yet, watching a one-point lead become a one-point loss in the final two minutes on a safety isn't one thought that any coach could have envisioned.
When is the last time a safety decided a game?
Gut wrenching isn't a strong enough word to describe what the Pirates felt walking off the field in a 16-15 loss to Oakland.
Seldom, though, does one play decide a game.
The Pirates had two touchdowns called back in the game because of penalties that head coach Kyle Cassamas didn't dispute.
Right now Stevenson is haunting themselves with mistakes. That's part of the journey with a young team trying to mold itself into one.
The positive in this is that these mistakes are correctable. There is no reason for this units confidence to be shaken. Cassamas has his program going in the right direction in terms of their future.
No doubt it was a crushing loss. But isn't this what non-league games are for? Because in two weeks, everyone will still be undefeated in their respective leagues.
