Seaside-Alisal football

Friday's game
Seaside (0-2) at Alisal (1-2), 7:30 p.m.
With their sod field not ready for foot traffic, the Spartans will instead travel to Alisal in what both teams hope gets their seasons pointed in the right direction before league play.
Playoff teams last year, both Seaside and the Trojans know their identities. Neither has been able to establish them on a consistent basis.
While Seaside prides itself on its physicality on defense, the Trojans aren't afraid to come at teams with a smash month ground game.
Dorian Segovia has been a workhorse in the backfield for Alisal, while quarterback Julian Renteria has over 300 yards rushing this season.
While the Spartans showed flashes of their potential in a season opening loss to Monterey, they took a step backwards in falling 49-6 last week to North Coast Section power Bishop O'Dowd.
Elijah Robinson is one of the more electrifying tailbacks in the county when he finds a seam. But the Spartans have been missing two starting offensive lineman.
When given time Seaside quarterback Tristan Cortez has been efficient with a pair of scoring tosses. The Trojans have given up five touchdowns threw the air this year.
While it may not sound like a big deal, Seaside has not converted an extra point this year. Special teams in general have been an eye sore for them through two games.
