Samantha Reich has made her presence felt in her return from a season ending injury last year for the Cowboys, who have outscored two league opponents 32-10.
The two wins matches Salinas' total from last year, when it struggled in its first year in the Gabilan Division without Reich.
In two league matches, Reich has 12 goals, 15 steals and eight assists for Salinas, who visits Santa Cruz tonight.
Salinas was not moved out of the Gabilan Division this season for a reason. The junior is a dynamic scoring threat, as well as a demon on defense, with 23 goals and 36 steals in six matches.
As a freshman two years ago, Reich produced 69 goals while setting a school record with 90 steals in a single season.
In fact, defense may be her real strength. She shuts down opponents, forming a defensive front for goalie Alison O'Dell, who has recorded 61 saves in six matches.
Reich draws a crowd in the water. That has provided more opportunities for Hannah Agan, who has made the most of her 18 attempts on goal, scoring 14 goals on the season.
