Preseason all-MAAC selection Nikki DeSerpa is living up to the expectations, as she is ahead of last years pace, leading the Marist University volleyball team in kills with 72 in seven matches, including a season high 20 against Fordham.
The 6-foot junior outside hitter, who lead Notre Dame to two Central Coast Section Divisional titles, is second on the team in service aces (6) and blocks (10), and third in digs (58).
Last fall DeSerpa compiled 364 kills and 244 digs in earning first team Metro Atlantic Association Conference honors. For her career, she has 637 kills.
Teammate McKinley Fox is seeing more time on the court, as the freshman is coming off the bench for Marist, recording 54 assists, 22 digs and three kills in her last three matches.
A setter at Santa Catalina, the 6-foot Fox has 66 assists on the season for Marist, including 29 against Fordham and 19 versus Bryant.
Fox was a part of two Santa Catalina teams that won back-to-back CCS Division V titles, going undefeated in the Central Coast Section in each of the last two years.
