Miguel Zavala

 Miguel Zavala has become the first Greenfield High athlete to be inducted in the schools sports Hall of Fame.

Zavala, who suddenly died in 2002 of a bacterial infection while serving in the Marines during boot camp in San Diego, was a four-sport standout at Greenfield.

 

He was a three-time all MTAL wrestler, finishing fourth in the Central Coast Section in the heavyweight finals.

A starter on the football and baseball teams, Zavala briefly held the school record in the shot put in track. His mark, attained in 2002, is still the third best throw in school history.
