Webb-Stevenson football

Saturday's game
Webb (2-0) at Stevenson (0-0), 2 p.m.
A member of the Southern Section, the Claremont-based program is coming off a 9-3 year, in which two of their losses were to the same team.
Quarterbacks Nick Johnson and JJ Cunningham have each thrown a pair of touchdown passes for the Gauls this fall, who are averaging 34.5 points a game.
Webb has been very balanced in its first two games, having rushed for 360 yards while throwing for 317 yards. Simon Dawson has rushed for 158 yards in two games.
The Pirates are miles ahead of last year when head coach Kyle Cassamas had less than five weeks on the job when the team played its first game.
While Alex Murray was effective behind center last year, the senior has moved to receiver, where he and new quarterback Dylan Santos have built chemistry in the off-season.
The ground game is still a priority for Stevenson with the return of Honorebel Walker, as it looks to be more balanced offensively.
A priority for the Pirates will be better starts. In six losses last year, they were outscored 83-6 in the first quarter.
