Hartnell track trio scholarship bound

Oscar Mora, Christian Aldape and Hayley Romero are all scholarship bound, as the Hartnell trio inked their names to compete in track and field next year at the four year level.

Mora, who prepped at North County High, is headed to CSU-East Bay to run track and cross country. The Hartnell sophomore was a two-time all conference cross country runner, reaching the state meet this past spring in track in the 5,000.

Aldape was a part of the Panthers Northern California champion cross country team. The former North Salinas distance ace was a key contributor this past spring for Hartnell in the distance events in track, helping them win the track and field Coast Conference crown.

Romero will run track next year at Fresno Pacific. A Coast Conference long jump champion the last two years for the Panthers women’s program, the Christopher High graduate was fifth in the state last week in the long jump. She was also a conference champion in the 100 hurdles.

Romero leaves as the sixth best long jumper in Hartnell history (18-9 3/4) and sixth fastest 100 hurdler (15.08). She was an All-American in the long jump as a freshman.
