While rain threatens to whip out this weekends outdoor sporting events, the annual Carmel Volleyball Classic will take place in a dry and comfortable gym.
Defending champion Carmel will be among a group of 12 teams that will include Aptos, Palma, San Benito, Fresno, Paso Robles, Tennyson, Madera and Bullard of Fresno
The Padres are 15-3 overall this year, with one of their setbacks coming from Aptos in a tournament. The Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League powers are 10-2 this season.
The two teams split their two meetings last year, with Carmel gaining a measure of redemption from a non-league loss with a win in the Central Coast Section Division II quarterfinals.
Last year the Padres defeated Bullard in the finals 2-1. The Knights have won 12 matches this year while Paso Robles is 9-3 on the season.
