Hartnell-MPC softball

While the Lobos bid for perfection in conference play ended eight days ago when they were stunned 6-2 at San Jose City, it has its second straight conference title locked up.
Now the Lobos can eliminate any playoff chances for Hartnell with a win today at home, and take momentum into the playoffs.
State ranked coming into the week, MPC defeated Hartnell 4-2 on March 13. Pitcher Sally Bowles had seven strikeouts in that first meeting.
The Panthers have won their last three games to keep their slim postseason hopes alive. They would need to run the table to get back to .500 on the season.
Angelina Ruiz has put together a solid second season for Hartnell, hitting .378, while leading the team in stolen bases (17), runs scored (29) and hits (38).
Teammate Danielle Caoili has raised her average to .368 with a team high four homers and 19 runs batted in. She's also won five games in the circle with a 3.28 earned run average.
Marielle Tuazon is hitting a team high .441 for MPC while Serena Castaneda leads the team in home runs (4) and runs batted in (29) for the second straight year.
Bowles is 12-1 as a hurler for the Lobos this spring with a 1.52 ERA, striking out 85 in 100 innings of work.
