Before the year is up, it's possible that the Padres will have the longest current league winning streak of any sport in Monterey County.
The defending two-time Gabilan Division champions have rattled off 30 straight league wins going into tonight's battle at Seaside.
Currently girls volleyball power Santa Catalina has the longest league winning streak among sports in the county at 35.
Carmel has swept 14 of its last 16 matches in league play, and 24-of-30 during its school record setting run.
The reigning two-time league champions are fueled by setter Charlie DeLapa, who has a surplus of power at the net, starting with Keegan Forrester and Cole Dickman.
Defensively Joaquin Buenrostro has been a vacuum in the back row along with Palmer Bajari, while Dickman has been a disruptive force at the net.
The biggest challenge to the Padres run of supremacy could come in eight days when they face unbeaten Salinas. For now the biggest obstacle is staying motivated for a potential historic run.
