The disappointment of not extending their season beyond the Central Coast Section finals last year has only raised expectations this spring for the Chieftains.
 All five golfers from last season's Gabilan Division title team are back, pushing the pendulum to take the next step as a unit.
 Four different players have been medalist this year, including Joey Burlison, who reached the State tournament two years ago as a sophomore.
 Teammates A.J. Fitzgerald, Michael Carrillo, Jose Calderon and Hansi Hell have all been within four strokes of each other. In a recent Gabilan Division event, Palma's fab five were in the top 12.
