Two teams that spent last season in the Pacific Division both welcomed a move this winter to the Gabilan Division.
While the Spartans have shot out the gates with impressive wins over North Salinas and MVC, North County is looking for its inaugural league win after capturing nine non-league games.
I'm still not sure why the Condors were bumped into the Gabilan this year after finishing in a tie for second in the Pacific last year.
North County hasn't won a league title since 2011. And while it has been competitive in the Pacific, five different teams in the last five years have won the Pacific.
The Condors have been particularly strong at home this season at 4-0. Dating back to last year, they are 12-1 on their rubberized floor, with the one loss coming from Seaside.
Rebecca Castro, the MVP at the Monte Vista Tournament, is averaging nearly 18 points a game for North County while reigning all-leaguer Jocelyn Cazarez is at 10 points a night.
Seaside's dynamic one-two punch of Jordan Olivares and Daja Mitchell have been lethal this year as the pair are making up nearly 50 percent of the teams offense.
It doesn't hurt having defensive minded players on the court sharing the ball in Marielle Tuazon and transfer Khrystiana Lynch.
In addition Aleah Jakubowsky has warmed to the rims in the Spartans two Gabilan Division games, averaging 15.5 points on six 3-point goals.
