Soledad boys basketball

Soledad (8-12, 7-7)
You can make the argument that the Aztecs have the best returning all-around player in the MTAL in 6-foot-6 Billy Hollman.
No one has improved their game as rapidly as Hollman, who showed up at Soledad two years ago as a raw sophomore with very little basketball experience.
"He looked really good in off-season workouts,'' Soledad first year coach Nick Twitchell said. "I feel we're a team with a lot of potential.''
Last year Hollman was a double-double machine as a junior, averaging 14 points and 12 rebounds a game in earning all-league honors.
Athletic and long-winged, Hollman will likely see double teams in the paint until Soledad shows it has another weapon, forcing teams to come out on the perimeter and defend.
"The key is to have the mentality that the team is more important than the individual,'' Twitchell said. "Once we get there, we can take off. We're not there yet.''
Twitchell has a trio of players back in the fold, including Beto Tinajero and Isaac Lopez, both of which provided glimpses last season, earning spots on two all-tournament teams.
If the pair and create points and knock down jump shots, opponents will be forced to come out and defend. The more balanced the Aztecs are, the more lethal they'll become as a team.''
Having been to the postseason two of the last three years, put the Aztecs name in the hat as a playoff contenders in the Mission Trail Athletic League.
