Jamaree Bouyea

Redshirted or limited playing time was the expectation.

Jamaree Bouyea had other ideas. The freshman point guard has landed in the starting lineup for the University of San Francisco men’s basketball team.

And the Palma graduate is making the most of it, leading the Dons in steals through their first five games.

One of four players to start all five games this season, the 6-foot-1 Bouyea is averaging 18.2 minutes a game for USF. He’s third on the team in rebounds at 4.2 and is averaging 3.2 points a game.

Bouyea never lost a Gabilan Division game in three years at Palma, earning the leagues Most Valuable Player honor as a junior and senior.

Last year he averaged over 18 points a game, taking the Chieftains to the State Northern California Division IV finals for the second straight year.
