One avenue to keep some sort of rhythm during the holiday season for basketball coaches is to put their teams in tournaments.
There are no shortage of boys and girls basketball tournaments taking place this week in the county, beginning Tuesday at 9 a.m. with the 19th annual Monterey Bay Sweet 16 Classic at Seaside High.
It's the one girls tourney, where each of the 16 teams are guaranteed four games, essentially filling a week for coaches.
King City will hold its annual Christmas Classic tournament Wednesday, which includes a varsity and junior varsity format for girls.
On the boys side, the three-day North Salinas Bob Steinbach Classic will tip off on Wednesday at 3 p.m. while the Condors Christmas Classic will begin on Thursday.
