Teresa Ochoa, North Salinas >> The Pacific Divisions co-Player of the Year, Ochoa compiled a team high 281 kills, leading the Vikings back to the playoffs for the first time in five years.
The 5-foot-10 outside hitter compiled 21 or more kills in two of her last three matches. She had 10 or more kills in 24 of the teams 26 matches, and finished among the team leaders in digs.
Jhailyn Bryant, Monterey >> The senior lead the Toreadores back to the postseason, compiling a team high 280 kills, while leading them in digs as well with 255.
Bryant, the co-Pacific Division Player of the Year, was also second on the team in blocks with 19 and third in service aces with 32. She will play next fall for CSU-Monterey Bay.
Grace Shepherd, King City >> A repeater on the all-county team, Shepherd was arguably the most improved player in the county, recording 435 kills for the Mustangs.
The co-Mission Trail Athletic League Player of the Year, the 5-foot-10 junior averaged 4.3 kills per set for King City. Shepherd also recorded 115 digs and led the team in service aces.
Megan Flores, King City >> The catalyst of the attack, Flores recorded over 300 assists for King City, who won 24 matches and reached the CCS Division IV semifinals.
A three-sport standout at King City, the senior often made adjustments with her sets as the ball was floating down. Flores also chipped in with 53 kills and 78 digs.
Olivia Satow, Santa Catalina >> A four-year starter and repeater on the all-county team, Satow had over 1,500 digs in her career for the reigning two-time CCS Division V champions.
Despite 25 of the teams 28 matches lasting just three sets, Satow averaged over 21 digs a match this past fall, finishing among the team leaders in service aces as well.
McKinley Fox, Santa Catalina >> A two-time Mission Trail Athletic League Player of the Year, the senior was a four-year starter and three-time member of The Herald's All-County team.
Fox finished with 815 assists, giving her over 1,500 in the last two seasons. The 6-foot setter also led the team in blocks, compiled 175 digs and recorded 84 kills.
Saige Madden, Santa Catalina >> The third member of the Cougars to play all four years, Madden finished with 270 kills this past fall for a program that won their first 27 matches.
Hitting opposite in a front row that included another dynamic hitter, Madden seldom came off the court, also recording 120 digs while serving up 75 points in 83 total sets.
Maria Santos, Santa Catalina >> A powerful left-handed swinger, the 5-foot-11 Santos finished with a team high 285 kills, averaging 3.8 kills per set for Santa Catalina.
A repeater on the all-county team, the junior also recorded 38 service aces, serving up 78 points for the State Northern California Division V semifinalists.
Soana Laulatu, Carmel >> There was no secret where the ball was headed 75 percent of the time in the Padres attack as Laulatu finished with 288 kills this season.
An all-leaguer in three different sports last year for Carmel, Laulatu also led the team in blocks, was second in service aces and finished with nearly 200 digs.
Madi Lombardi, Carmel >> A four-year starting libero for Carmel, Lombardi compiled over 300 digs for the second straight year, finishing with a team high 371.
Lombardi dug up balls that appeared headed for the ground, setting up the attack with that first pass. She also served up 78 service points, finishing with 19 service aces.
Taylor Rose, Salinas >> Bound for Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo on a volleyball scholarship next fall, the Gabilan Division Co Player of the Year recorded a county best 478 kills.
The 5-foot-10 outside hitter averaged 5.2 kills per set for Salinas, comprising over 60 percent of the offense. She was also dynamic on defense with 480 digs and finished with 45 service aces.
Julie Foley, Salinas >> Moved to the libero position because of injuries, Foley responded with 502 digs this past fall for the CCS Division I semifinalists.
Foley shored up a weakness in the back row for the Cowboys, enabling them to win 24 matches this past season. The junior also lead the team in service aces with 49.
Jocelyn Hernandez, Seaside >> The outside hitter put up big numbers, compiling over 300 kills in just 22 matches for the Pacific Division champions.
Hernandez was also a menace at the net defensively, recording 68 blocks while leading the Spartans in service aces with 42
Debbie Hudson, King City coach >> After 37 years and nearly 700 wins, Hudson is retiring as the Mustangs coach, guiding them to 24 wins last season.
King City reached the Central Coast Section Division IV semifinals for the first time in six years, with winning streaks of eight and seven straight.
