I realize that you write for papers in this area. And you don't get to see much of the former SCCAL or even Gilroy or Christopher, but with next year's expansion to four leagues within the Monterey Bay League you are going to have to pay more respect to the non-local teams.

The computer models (calpreps and maxpreps) have now reached the point where they are time-tested and by the end of the season very good predictors of a team's ranking.

Here is where the calpreps model places area teams.

1. Salinas
2. Aptos
3. Gilroy
4. Palma
5. Christopher
6. Hollister
7. Seaside
8. Alisal
9. Scotts Valley
10. Soldedad

On the bubble: Carmel, MVC, Alvarez, King City, North Salinas

Models are built on strength of schedule and season's results. I do not believe that they take "momentum" into account. So perhaps a team like Carmel who finished the season strong could be moved up. Or maybe a team like MVC who ended the season poorly should not be on the bubble. But overall I am a proponent of the models and lesser so of sportswriters or committees of AD's or coaches sticking their finger in the air and feeling which way the wind blows.

Now having said that, I still remain a great fan of your's. You do a TERRIFIC job reporting on local area sports. Putting in more effort than anyone else. Providing us all with insight into various sports and various programs that we cannot get anywhere else. So thanks for everything you do.
