Alisal-Christopher football

Central Coast Section Division IV Semifinals
Saturday's game
No. 6 Alisal (7-4) at No. 2 Christopher (9-2), 1 p.m.
If there was a signature win in the Trojans path to the postseason, it came on Oct. 13 when they went into Christopher and stunned them 28-21 in overtime.
It's part of a school record six game winning streak that has Alisal in uncharted waters in the Central Coast Section Division IV semifinals.
Of all the wins the Trojans have piled up this fall, that was the one that gave them the belief that the playoffs was a reality.
Since that emotional win, Alisal has outscored its last three opponents 121-13, including a 30-7 win over Branham last week for the programs first ever postseason win.
Of course, that loss may have turned Christopher's season around as well, as it has outscored its last three opponents 114-21, opening the postseason with a 51-7 decision over Cupertino.
In that epic first meeting, the Trojans held a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter before Christopher rallied to tie the game and force overtime.
As dynamic as Alisal quarterback Andrew Marquez has been this year in compiling 21 touchdowns, Thomas Martinez piled up over 100 yards rushing and a touchdown last week.
And the Trojans defense has been filthy of late, as the first unit has allowed just one touchdown in the last 13 quarters, as well as recording a safety and five turnovers.
Christopher quarterback Ben Sanford has thrown for over 2,000 yards and 24 touchdowns this year while Tyler Davis has rushed for 938 yards and nine touchdowns.
Eight different players have scored multiple touchdowns this fall for the Cougars, including receiver Jason Scirigione, who has caught 13 touchdown passes on 49 receptions.
This is Christopher's second trip to the semifinals, the last occurring in 2011 when it fell to Sacred Heart Cathedral in Division III.
