King City-Scotts Valley football

Friday's game
King City (3-2) at Scotts Valley (4-1), 7:30 p.m.
The Mustangs have been a second half team during a three game winning streak, outscoring teams 41-6 -- the one score coming after building a three-touchdown cushion.
Clay Barbree has made the most of 15 receptions this season, particularly after the catch, averaging nearly 27 yards each time he touches the ball.
Occasionally the 215-pound senior is used in the Wildcat formation, where he has chalked up 275 additional yards, just behind Cedrick Petty's team leading 310 yards.
Yet, where Barbree made his presence felt last week was on the defensive side when he returned an interception 85 yards for the game winning touchdown.
Scotts Valley has also rattled off three straight wins, knocking off perennial MTAL power Carmel last week, scoring the games last 14 points.
Ryan Conte has been a workhorse in the backfield for the Falcons while Carson Spencer has quietly evolved into a playmaker on the outside as a receiver.
A common opponent is Monte Vista, who Scotts Valley beat 21-19 on a field goal from Kyle Rajala, while King City fell 37-20 in its season opener.
The Mustangs were also just getting over the shock of losing their starting quarterback. Last week's win over Soledad snapped a five game road losing streak.
