Saturday's game
Hartnell (4-3) at West Hills, Coalinga (3-3), 1 p.m.
It's been a courageous season for the Panthers, who after a smaller than usual turnout before the year started, now find themselves down to 32 players because of injuries.
Yet, Hartnell is essentially three plays away from being undefeated, having fallen in overtime in one game, and in the final minute in another.
While head coach Matt Collins waits for a few bodies to heel, he's had to be creative in utilizing his options, as evident by two linemen scoring touchdowns in the last three weeks.
No one has been more valuable than sophomore J'uan Campbell, who has 44 caches for nearly 700 yards and five touchdowns.
Kieshawn Robinson is coming off a 125 yard rushing effort for the Panthers, having rushed for six touchdowns this season.
Defensively Angel Maldonado is among the state leaders in sacks with 8 1/2, while teammates Matt Wright and Brian Grace have combined for 14 more. As a team, Hartnell has 32 sacks.
Of the Panthers 17 turnovers, King City grad Christian Olmos has four of them while Alexis Ramos has a team leading 46 tackles.
West Hills has three losses this fall by six, four and three points, including a 32-28 setback last week to MPC. It has turned the ball over 19 times this year.
Myron Norfleet has thrown for nearly 1,200 yards and five touchdowns for West Hills, and leads the team in rushing with 340 yards and 13 touchdowns, accounting for 18 of the teams 23 scores.
