Saturday morning thoughts

Dramatics: Clay Barbree's 85 yard interception return breaks up a tie game, propelling King City to a 24-17 win over defending CCS DIV champion Soledad.
Consecutive points: Salinas erupts for 42 consecutive first half points in its tune-up before Palma, beating North Salinas 48-13.
Statement: Not only did Alisal manufacture a season high 35 points, but it did it against Watsonville, who came into the game 4-1.
Not so friendly confines: Undefeated and averaging 48 points a game on the road, Greenfield is 0-3 at home, having been outscored 108-27.
Shot in the arm: Outscored 35-0 in the second half last week, Palma reversed the curse with a 14-0 second half this week in a 21-0 win over Alvarez.
Snakebitten: For the third time this year, Gonzales fell by a touchdown or less in a game. For the fifth time, it couldn't hold an early lead.
Numbers:  Jeff Weimer caught three touchdown passes for Salinas. Evans Charles tossed a pair of touchdowns and rushed for one for Monterey. Andrew Marquez rushed for two touchdowns and had a touchdown pass for Alisal. DeMarcus Hawkins rushed for three touchdowns for Seaside, as did Brock Ray and Christopher Wright for Trinity.
