Friday's game
Salinas (1-0) at Terra Nova (1-1), 7:30 p.m.
Forced to forfeit their opener after getting involved in a skirmish during a scrimmage with Moreau Catholic three weeks ago, the Tigers put up 63 in dismantling Scotts Valley last week.
Quarterback Nathan Gordon came out swinging, throwing for 344 yards and five touchdowns for the Tigers. Last year the senior threw for 1,900 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Gordon is a dual threat for Terra Nova, adding 87 yards on the ground.
Other than a handful of penalties, the Cowboys did little wrong in scoring the games first 42 points in thumping Oak Grove.
Salinas opened the game with a 12-play drive -- all on the ground. Senior quarterback Brett Reade was efficient in throwing the ball, and rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown.
The Cowboys only ran 37 plays, but averaged nearly eight yards each time they touched the ball, scoring on their first four possessions, with Abraham Hernandez scoring two touchdowns.
Salinas needs to get a pass rush on Gordon and not let him get to the outside and run. Hunter Mason had a pick six last week for the Cowboys.
The two teams haven't played since 2014. Prior to that, Terra Nova had beaten Salinas three straight times.
