After eight years as the Toreadores softball coach, Phil Santora has stepped down.
The decision was simple for the one-time Monterey High baseball standout. He wanted to spend more time with his family.
Prior to becoming the Toreadores softball coach, Santora was a baseball coach at all three levels for Monterey, serving as a head coach on the JV and freshman programs.
In eight seasons as the softball coach, he guided Monterey to three league titles.
Last year Monterey had just one senior on the roster.
